Staff Tutor

Katie Chicot is a Mathematics Department Staff Tutor.

My research interests straddle Logic and Combinatorics. In particular I have worked with automorphism groups, the Small index property and transitivity properties all with respect to infinite designs.

Recent research involved taking ideas from model theory to answer questions relating to infinite permutation group theory and to construct new universal structures and new omega-categorical structures.

I am involved with mathematical outreach in various ways. I have given talks for the UKMT, the Royal Institution, Maths Inspiration, Maths in Action and in many individual schools. I am currently a Holgate Lecturer with the London Mathematical Society. If you would like me to give a talk for your organisation then please e-mail me. Details of my talks are given on my personal website.
